Mini Brand Audit

Break Free From Plastic’s brand audit is a citizen science initiative that involves recording data on plastic waste to help identify the companies responsible for plastic pollution and hold them accountable. We have been coordinating brand audits globally for over five years, and the data collected has been used in many ways to make big impacts - from passing laws to influencing company sustainability goals. Now, we have adjusted our approach to present you with a short simplified version to make it even easier for you to get involved!

All it takes for this mini brand audit is tracking all the plastic waste you dispose of over the course of one week, and sending in your data summary. That’s it!

Our Mission

We believe that the best way to address plastic pollution is for companies to stop producing so much plastic in the first place. That’s why we are mobilizing volunteers around the world with brand audits to hold companies accountable for their role in manufacturing the plastic pollution crisis and catalyze systemic change. By combining people power with data evidence, brand audits are the Break Free From Plastic movement’s tool for pressuring companies to:

REVEAL their total plastic footprint
REDUCE the amount of plastic they produce
REDESIGN their packaging for refill and reuse

Why do a brand audit?

To better understand how much plastic we dispose of and which corporations produced it.

To gather data for the global Break Free From Plastic database, which is used by campaigners, researchers, journalists, and others around the world to advance efforts to end plastic pollution by holding corporations accountable.

To join thousands of other change makers from around the world who are elevating their activism by deepening their understanding of the full story of plastic pollution - and taking action to stop it.
